Headroom Notes

The large horizontal A Series model: twin 7-inch woofers, 118 dB SPL per speaker with IEC-weighted noise. On the same page the sine-burst figure is 106 dB SPL - a gap of twelve decibels between two rows describing the same speaker, against seven decibels on the smaller A44H. The gap itself is a property of the limiter and the signal crest factor, not of the loudspeaker.

Was im Datenblatt tatsächlich steht

Wörtlich von der Herstellerseite zitiert, mit dem Datum der Prüfung. Wir behaupten das Gedruckte, nicht die Absicht dahinter.

Messbedingungen
«Max. peak SPL per speaker at 1 m (sine bursts): 106 dB SPL / Max. peak SPL per speaker at 1 m (IEC-weighted noise): 118 dB SPL»

Two maximum-level rows for one speaker, twelve decibels apart, differing only in the test signal. Sine bursts hold a single frequency at full amplitude and hit the driver and the limiter hardest; IEC-weighted noise is broadband with a music-like spectrum, so the same limiter allows a much higher indicated peak. On the smaller A44H the same pair of rows is seven decibels apart (103 and 110 dB SPL), so the gap is not a constant that can be applied across models. Both rows are per speaker at 1 m - which is worth noting because ADAM's own S Series states its maximum level per pair, so figures cannot be compared across the two ranges of one manufacturer without checking which convention each uses.
