Tonal Profile

Hypercardioid handheld with the same VLM Type B capsule as the i5, in a vocal body. The pattern is the point: hypercardioid puts its null at about 110 degrees off axis, which is where a wedge usually sits.

Gain Staging Advice

-55.92 dBV/Pa, the same figure as the i5: 1.4 dB below an SM58 and a tenth of a decibel above an SM57. On a hand-held vocal that means no surprises - whatever gain an SM58 needs, this needs a touch more. The 290 ohm output is still an easy load for anything with a 2 kilohm input.
