Tonal Profile
The RE20 with a neodymium motor and three filter switches. Variable-D is the part that matters: a series of rear ports tuned to different frequencies, so the proximity rise that every other cardioid has is largely cancelled. That is why announcers can work it at two inches and instrumentalists at two feet without the low end changing character.
Gain Staging Advice
2.52 mV/Pa is -52.0 dBV/Pa, four decibels hotter than an SM57 and unusually loud for a large broadcast dynamic - the product page states the reason as 'Neodymium element design brings 6 dB more sensitivity'. Into 150 ohms balanced, so nothing about the load needs thinking about.
Was im Datenblatt tatsächlich steht
Wörtlich von der Herstellerseite zitiert, mit dem Datum der Prüfung. Wir behaupten das Gedruckte, nicht die Absicht dahinter.
«Open Circuit Voltage 2.5»
The specification table on the RE27N/D product page gives the sensitivity row as a bare number with no unit. The Engineering Data Sheet the same page links to prints it in full: 'Sensitivity, Open Circuit 2.52 mV/pascal = 1 kHz'. The same data sheet also gives a second sensitivity on an entirely different scale - 'the power level sensitivity shall be -51 dB at 1,000 Hz (0 dB equals 1 mW/pascal)' - so a reader who copies '-51' from the prose and treats it as dBV/Pa is off by one decibel and using the wrong quantity. Neither figure is labelled on the web page at all.
