Tonal Profile

Variable-D cardioid with a two-position voicing switch: a kick-drum curve with a scooped low-mid, and a flatter general curve for voice and instruments. The two curves are not a tone shaping nicety - they change the published frequency range from 30 Hz to 45 Hz at the bottom.

Gain Staging Advice

Electro-Voice publishes output only as 2.5 mV/Pa; -52.0 dBV/Pa is that number converted, not a second measurement. That puts the RE320 4.5 dB above its own sibling the RE20 and 7 dB above an SM7B - it is a broadcast dynamic that does not actually starve a modern interface.
