Headroom Notes

105 dB short-term sine at 1 m in half space; only 1 dB above the 8030C by the same test, despite a 6.5-inch woofer against a 5-inch. The extra driver went into bass extension (48 Hz against 54 Hz at ±2 dB), not level — a pattern worth noticing before paying for the larger box on headroom grounds.

Amplification Warning

10 kΩ balanced XLR. Unlike the 8020D and 8030C, the 8040B runs class AB amplifiers — 90 W + 90 W — which is why it is noticeably heavier and warmer to the touch at idle than its smaller siblings.
