Tonal Profile

Eight balanced armatures per side — a Sonion dual subwoofer, four custom mids, two Knowles tweeters — behind a passive crossover. The nominal 17 Ω is a single number for a network whose impedance is not flat with frequency; a source with a high output impedance will shift the tonal balance here, not just the level.

Amplification Warning

111 dB/mW at 17 Ω is about 129 dB/V. This is the class of earphone where a laptop headphone jack with a 30 Ω output impedance audibly changes the frequency response — the crossover sees the source impedance as part of its own circuit.
