Gain Staging Advice
Tube Drive is placed after the gain stage: turning it up does not make the channel louder in a useful way, it makes the valve work harder. If the level moves when you add drive, compensate at the output, not on the input gain.
Production Warning
PreSonus publish an 80 dB gain range for this two-channel model but no gain figure at all for the single-channel TubePre V2, which shares the same XMAX-plus-valve topology. Do not carry the number across: it is not stated for the smaller box.
