Gain Staging Advice
Roughly -21.6 dB from the transformer, plus another -15 dB if the pad is engaged. A synth or an active bass through the pad arrives at the preamp some 37 dB down — plan the interface gain accordingly.
Production Warning
Passive: it needs no power at all, and 48 V on the interface changes nothing here. This is the practical difference from an active DI like the J48 or the RNDI, which stop working without phantom.
