Gain Staging Advice
75 dB of gain with -128 dBu EIN, and RME states both endpoints of the range in dBu: +18 dBu at 0 dB gain, -57 dBu at 75 dB. That second figure is the useful one — it says outright what signal reaches full scale at maximum gain, which is the number every other sheet in this batch leaves you to work out.
Amplification Warning
RME publishes the headphone output honestly in three units at once — 210 mW per channel at 32 ohms, 2.6 V RMS, +10.5 dBu — and the three agree with each other. Output impedance of 1 ohm means the frequency response of multi-driver in-ears is left alone.
