Gain Staging Advice
The two gain settings have different noise floors — 1 μV at 15 dB against 6.6 μV at 30 dB, per sE's own table. On a quiet source use 30 dB and accept the noise; on anything loud 15 dB is both quieter and safer for the following preamp.
Production Warning
sE state that the unit runs on P48 (IEC 61938) but say nothing anywhere about whether phantom reaches the microphone behind it. The catalogue therefore leaves that field empty rather than assuming: for the sister model DM1 the maker does say it blocks phantom, but a statement about one model is not a statement about another.
