Gain Staging Advice
Twenty-three decibels is a deliberate four-decibel trade against the blocking versions. If the source is an SM7B and the preamp is short of gain, the extra 4 dB of a blocking FetHead is real; if a condenser has to sit behind it, that gain does not exist at any price.
Production Warning
This is the exception in the family, and buying the wrong FetHead is the classic mistake: the plain, Germanium, Filter and Transformer versions all block phantom, only Broadcast passes it. If a condenser has to work behind an in-line booster, this is the model.
