Gain Staging Advice
29 dB is the highest of the FetHead family and the reason it is not neutral: the germanium stage is meant to colour, so it is a poor choice where you wanted only a clean lift ahead of a noisy preamp.
Production Warning
TritonAudio state it plainly: the unit "protects ribbon microphones by blocking phantom voltage". Nothing that needs 48 V will work behind it — no condenser, no active ribbon — and the +48 V button on the interface will be lit the whole time, which is exactly what hides the mistake.
