Gain Staging Advice
The 90 dB figure is only reachable with the high-gain switch engaged, which is a second tube stage rather than more of the first. On a modern condenser the standard 70 dB position is already more than the source needs; the high-gain position exists for ribbons and quiet rooms, and it brings its own noise with it.
