Gain Staging Advice
10 mV/Pa, -40.0 dBV/Pa: 19 dB above an SM7B and 8 dB below an AT4040. Self-noise of 9 dB-A and 147 dB max SPL, 157 dB padded, is a wide window for the money. The manual gives one sensitivity for all three patterns, so expect a couple of dB of movement away from cardioid - and note that the pattern switch is on the capsule side, so the cardioid front is the side the switch is on.

«Sensitivity: 10mV/Pa Or -40dB»
'-40dB' steht ohne Bezugsgröße, und das Wort 'Or' stellt beide Werte als austauschbar dar. Austauschbar sind sie nur bei Bezug auf ein Volt: 10 mV/Pa sind exakt -40,00 dBV/Pa, die Arithmetik bestätigt also die Absicht. Auf der älteren Skala 1 V/Mikrobar wäre dasselbe Mikrofon -60 dB, und wer diese Zeile mit einem alten Datenblatt vergleicht, kann der Seite allein nicht entnehmen, welche Skala gemeint ist. In derselben Zeile fehlen zwei weitere Angaben: die Lastimpedanz der Messung und für welche Richtcharakteristik sie gilt - das WA-47jr hat eine K47-Kapsel mit zwei Gegenelektroden und bietet Niere, Kugel und Acht, angegeben ist eine Empfindlichkeit für alle drei.
