Headroom Notes

88 dB at 2.83 V / 1 m, and the peak SPL Wharfedale prints alongside it is only 96 dB. That pair of numbers is more useful than either alone: it says the speaker runs out of excursion long before it runs out of amplifier.

Amplification Warning

Wharfedale does not claim a nominal impedance at all: the datasheet line reads "8 ohm compatible", with a separate minimum of 4.0 ohms. The wording is deliberate — it says the speaker will not upset an amplifier's 8-ohm tap, not that it presents 8 ohms. The 4.0-ohm figure is the one to design around.
