Headroom Notes

ADAM prints three maximum levels for the A7V and they answer three different questions: 105 dB per speaker with sine bursts, 113 dB per speaker with IEC-weighted noise, and 115 dB in full space under Dolby's DARDT method. We store the sine-burst figure, which is the most conservative and the least dependent on the crest factor of the test signal. The A-series is measured per speaker; the cheaper T-series is measured per pair.

Amplification Warning

9 kΩ balanced, 3.3 kΩ unbalanced. The RCA figure is the one to watch: 3.3 kΩ is low enough that a valve or passive preamp with a high output impedance will lose top end into it, and feeding a pair from one source through both RCA inputs loads it with 1.65 kΩ. On XLR from any modern interface this is a non-issue.
