Gain Staging Advice
Input gain and output gain are separate: how hard the valve is driven is set on the input, and the level handed to the interface on the output. Setting both high is what makes these boxes hiss.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
««Maximum Gain: 74dB - 80dB» — у таблиці, де сусідні рядки подано парами: «Input Impedance: 5K ohms, 1M ohm», «Maximum Input Level: +19dBu (XLR), +22dBu (1/4")»»
Every other row of this table gives two values, one per input, and labels which is which. The gain row gives two values with no labels and an en dash, so it can be read either as a range 74-80 dB or as 74 dB on one input and 80 dB on the other. The catalogue takes the upper figure, 80 dB, the same convention already used for the ART Tube MP Studio V3 ("50 dB - 60 dB").
