Gain Staging Advice
-130 dBu EIN is the quietest preamp in this batch, 3 dB below the Focusrite 4th Gen, but the gain range stops at 58 dB where Focusrite gives 69 dB. For a -59 dBV dynamic microphone the noise floor is not the problem here; the 11 dB of missing gain is.
Amplification Warning
The published output impedance is "<50 ohm", and the loaded voltages behave like a source impedance near 70-100 ohms: 1.87 V into 30 ohms but 3.03 V into 60 and 5.6 V into 600. With multi-driver in-ears that is enough source impedance to change the frequency response audibly.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
«MAX LEVEL INTO 30R: 2.63V Peak, 1.87V RMS, 232mW»
1.87 V RMS across 30 ohms is 117 mW, not 232 mW — the printed power is exactly twice what the printed voltage produces. The same doubling holds in the other two rows (3.03 V into 60 ohms is 153 mW, printed 295 mW; 5.6 V into 600 ohms is 52 mW, printed 104 mW), so the power column is the sum of both channels while the voltage column is per channel. Audient's own iD44 sheet is self-consistent in its 30 ohm row, so this is not a house convention. Use the voltage: that is what one earpiece sees.
