Gain Staging Advice
-10 dB is unusually little loss for a DI — a passive transformer box drops about twice that. A Type 85 therefore arrives at the preamp much hotter than a JDI, and the interface gain has to be set lower, not higher.
Production Warning
Active box: without 48 V phantom or a working battery it passes nothing. The 10 MΩ input is the reason it does not load a passive pickup — that is what you are buying, not the -10 dB.
