Headroom Notes

83 dB at 2.83 V on 6 ohms — about 81.8 dB/W/m, the lowest sensitivity of any passive speaker in the catalogue. That is 8 dB below the Focal and Q Acoustics floorstanders in this batch, which is six times the amplifier power for the same level. A 4½-inch woofer in a very small box has to pay for its bass somewhere, and it pays in efficiency.

Amplification Warning

DALI recommends 40–100 W for this speaker — a higher lower bound than it gives for the much larger Oberon 7 (30 W). Read together with the 83 dB sensitivity that is consistent rather than odd: the small box needs the watts to reach any useful level, and below about 40 W a listener starts driving the amplifier into clipping instead.
