Headroom Notes
Two voltages are printed for the 3.5 mm jack: 1.99 V into 32 ohms and 2 V into 600 ohms. They are the same voltage — the amplifier is voltage-limited rather than current-limited even at 32 ohms, which is unusual for a dongle and means the KA5 will not gain headroom on an easier load. Under 0.3 ohms output impedance is one of the lowest FiiO prints, so multi-driver IEMs keep their tuning.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
«Max output voltage ≥1.99V (32Ω, THD+N<1%) … peak output voltage ≥2.9V (32Ω, THD+N<1%)»
Two adjacent blocks of the same table name the same quantity twice: max output voltage for the 3.5 mm jack, peak output voltage for the 4.4 mm jack. Both are RMS — 122 mW into 32 ohms is 1.98 V RMS and 265 mW into 32 ohms is 2.91 V RMS, matching the printed numbers. Only one of the two labels can be right, and it is the first one.
