Headroom Notes
104 dB short-term sine at 1 m in half space, 96 dB long-term, 110 dB peak per pair. Genelec is unusual in printing the measurement definition next to each figure rather than as a footnote at the bottom, which is why these numbers can be compared against each other at all — most of the active monitors in this catalogue give one number and no method.
Amplification Warning
10 kΩ balanced XLR, no unbalanced option. 50 W + 50 W class D behind a 5-inch woofer.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
«Peak SPL ≥110 dB — Maximum peak acoustic output per pair, at 1 m distance with music material.»
Genelec prints three maximum-SPL rows for every monitor, and only one of them is measured on a pair. Read carelessly, the largest number — the per-pair peak — looks like the monitor's capability, and it is the number most often repeated in retail listings. The comparable single-speaker figure on this model is the short-term sine value, 104 dB. The catalogue stores the short-term sine figure for that reason; the per-pair peak is quoted here so that the difference is visible rather than silently corrected.
