Headroom Notes
The SAM version of the 8020: same 105 mm woofer, but with DSP and the GLM calibration network on two RJ45 sockets. The RJ45 pair carries control data only — the audio path is still the single analog XLR, 10 kΩ balanced.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
«Peak SPL ≥107 dB — Maximum peak acoustic output per pair, at 1 m distance with music material.»
Genelec's headline peak figure is measured for two speakers playing together, and the row says so. Two coherent sources add up to about 6 dB over one, but how much of that you actually get depends on their spacing and on the listening position, so the number cannot be converted to a per-speaker figure afterwards. The same table's short-term row is the per-speaker, on-axis, half-space number, and that is the one that can be lined up against another maker's per-speaker figure. On the 8010A the same row also names a placement — «on top of console» — which adds boundary gain on top of the pair coupling.
