Gain Staging Advice

Maximum input is -15 dBu. That is a booster for quiet microphones and nothing else: put it in front of a loud source and the box itself clips before the preamp behind it ever does.

Production Warning

Klark Teknik's Quick Start Guide states it in the setup procedure: "phantom power cannot be passed to condenser mics, and therefore they shouldn't be used along with a mic booster unit." This is the same document that covers the CT 1 already in the catalogue.

One Quick Start Guide serves the CT 1, CM-1 and CM-2. The table has three model columns, but every electrical figure — impedance, maximum input, gain, output level, noise — is printed once across all three; only the connector count, dimensions and weight differ per model. The CT 1 is a much smaller unit built to sit directly on a microphone, so a reader has no way to tell from this document which figures were actually measured on which box.

Named like something else

Equivalent input noise is a negative level referred to a stated reference, normally written as something like -120 dBu. Here it is printed as a positive number, with no reference unit and with a "greater than" sign, so as written a larger value would mean more noise while the sense intended is clearly the opposite. The figure cannot be compared with an EIN in dBu from another manufacturer.
