Headroom Notes
A class D streaming amplifier the size of a book. 100 W into 8 ohms and 125 W into 4 ohms, both at 0.05 % THD - the smaller ratio between the two loads is normal for a switching output stage with a regulated supply, and more informative than a doubling would be.
Thermal Behavior
'Connected loudspeaker Impedance: 4 - 16 ohms' is on the specification tab of the product page, which is where it belongs and where most of this manufacturer's other models do not put it.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
«Power Amplifier Rated output & THD (8 ohm) | 100 W+100 W (8 Ω, THD 0.05%) ; Power Amplifier Rated output & THD (4ohm) | 125 W + 125 W (4Ω/ohms, 1 kHz, T.H.D. 0.05%)»
The 4 ohm line names its test frequency - 1 kHz. The 8 ohm line, printed directly above it in the same table, names none: load and distortion only. A power rating without a stated bandwidth cannot be compared with a 20 Hz - 20 kHz rating, and the two lines here are not stated on the same terms.
