Headroom Notes

91 dB at 2.83 V / 1 m looks like the most sensitive speaker in this batch, and on paper it is — but on a 6-ohm nominal load 2.83 V is 1.33 W, not 1 W, so the equivalent dB/W/m figure is about 1.25 dB lower. Compared like for like against the 8-ohm KEF and B&W here, the real gap is smaller than the printed numbers suggest.

Amplification Warning

Q Acoustics does not print a nominal impedance for this speaker at all — the row is «Average Impedance: 6 Ohm», a label the company's own 5000-series pages replace with «Nominal impedance». We store 6 Ω because that is the only impedance figure offered besides the 4 Ω minimum, but an average and a nominal are not the same quantity and the sheet never says which averaging was used.

The maker’s own documents disagree
«Average Impedance: 6 Ohm»

On the 3000i pages Q Acoustics calls the impedance «Average Impedance»; on the 5000-series pages of the same site the corresponding row reads «Nominal impedance». The two terms are not interchangeable: a nominal impedance is a declared load class (IEC 60268-5 ties it to the measured minimum), while an average is a computed mean whose method the sheet does not disclose. Anyone comparing a 3000i against a 5000 is comparing two differently defined numbers printed in the same column position.
