Headroom Notes

The sensitivity row on this page contradicts itself: it is headed «Sensitivity (2.83V @ 1kHz)» and the value carries the unit «dB/w/m». Those are two different scales, and on a 6-ohm load they differ by about 1.25 dB. We have stored the figure against the drive condition that is actually named — 2.83 V — and recorded the wording, because the alternative is to silently pick a reading and be 1.25 dB out with no trace of why.

Amplification Warning

3.3 Ω minimum on a 6 Ω nominal is a genuinely demanding bookshelf load — lower than either Wharfedale in this batch and lower than the 3050i floorstander from the same brand. A receiver whose 8-ohm rating is its only rating will be delivering close to twice its specified current wherever that dip sits.

One row states three things that cannot all hold. The drive condition given is 2.83 V; the unit given is dB/W/m; and the distance — the «m» the unit depends on — is replaced by a frequency, 1 kHz. On the 6-ohm load this same page declares, 2.83 V is 1.33 W, so the 2.83 V and the 1 W readings of 87.9 dB differ by about 1.25 dB. We store the number against 2.83 V because that is the only measurement condition the sheet actually names; read as dB/W/m instead, the speaker is about 1.25 dB quieter than we show it.
