Gain Staging Advice

Eight discrete preamps at 56 dB with a -125 dBu EIN, mains-powered, for the price of a two-input bus-powered box. The catch is the sample rate: 96 kHz maximum, and USB-B 2.0. The headphone jack shares the 51.5 Ω output impedance of the rest of the US series.

What the datasheet actually says

Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.

The maker’s own documents disagree
«INST IN (IN 9-10) … Nominal input level GAIN: MAX –57dBV (0.0014Vrms) GAIN: MIN –12dBV (0.251Vrms) … Maximum input level +8dBV (0.2512Vrms)»

The voltage in brackets does not match the decibel figure it explains: +8 dBV is 2.512 Vrms, while 0.2512 Vrms is -12 dBV. Every other cell in the same table converts correctly, and the line two rows above already uses 0.251 Vrms for -12 dBV. One of the two numbers in this cell is wrong and the page does not say which.
