Headroom Notes

The recommended amplifier range starts at 75 W, higher than the 60 W minimum quoted for the larger BR09 with an identical 92 dB sensitivity. Nothing on either page explains the inversion.

Amplification Warning

92 dB/W/m with a 3-ohm minimum: high efficiency and a hard load at once, which is the classic three-way floorstander trade. Two 16 cm woofers in parallel below 215 Hz put the minimum in the bass. Triangle's own note says its speakers «never fall below 3 Ohms» — the BR08 is the model that defines that floor, so there is no margin left in the claim.

«Nominal impedance is measured at a frequency of 1kHz - Minimum impedance is measured at low frequencies.»

Triangle defines its nominal impedance as the value measured at 1 kHz. That is not what nominal impedance means under IEC 60268-5, where the nominal value is a declared rating tied to the minimum of the impedance modulus across the working band, not a reading at one frequency. At 1 kHz most two-way cabinets sit near a local maximum between the bass resonance and the crossover, so a 1 kHz reading falls systematically on the flattering part of the curve. The company does print the true minimum in the row below, which is more than most of the industry does — read that number, not the 8 ohms.
