Tonal Profile
8 ohms and 107 dB/mW - on the milliwatt scale one of the most sensitive planars anywhere, but at 8 ohms a milliwatt is only 89 mV, so the figure says nothing about the current the source must hand over. Verum's own answer is on the same sheet: half a watt into 8 ohms.
What the datasheet actually says
Quoted verbatim from the manufacturer’s own page, with the date we checked it. We state what is printed, not what anyone intended by it.
«Resistance: 8 ohm | Sensitivity: 107 dB/mW | Recommended amplifier: 0.5w@8 ohm»
Verum's specification list calls the row 'Resistance', not impedance. For a moving transducer these are different quantities: resistance is the DC value of the trace or voice coil, impedance is what the amplifier sees at audio frequencies. The figure is entered here as impedance because that is the only reading under which the rest of the sheet - 'Recommended amplifier: 0.5w@8 ohm' - is consistent with itself.
