Digitally stepped gain in 1 dB increments to 60 dB, which is rare at this price and makes the two channels matchable to the decibel. The +12 dBu input ceiling is generous for a small interface.
Amplification Warning
The headphone jack has a 33 Ω output impedance, which Zoom prints plainly. Into a 32 Ω load that halves the voltage and, because it is a divider against the headphone's own impedance curve, it tilts the response of anything with a resonant peak — most dynamic in-ears. The 20 mW figure is measured at that same 32 Ω, so 0.8 V is what actually arrives.
