What this is

AudioChainsDB answers a narrow question: will these pieces of gear work together, and with what headroom? You pick a microphone and an interface, or an amplifier and a pair of speakers, and the site computes required gain, phantom-power compatibility, impedance safety and cable loss from the numbers the manufacturers themselves publish.

The same formulas power the ready-made signal-chain scenarios. A scenario is not a blog post with a conclusion glued on; it is a specific chain with the calculation already run.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure on a gear page is meant to be traceable. When a value has been checked against a manufacturer document, the page shows a source link and the date of that check. When a value could not be verified, the page says so rather than inventing a number — and the calculator will not pretend the missing figure is known.

Store links, where shown, are marked. They do not change the calculation.

What a language model does — and does not do

The arithmetic is deterministic code. No model decides whether an SM7B needs a Cloudlifter on a Scarlett 4th Gen; the published gain figures do.

Draft catalogue text and scenario prose may be prepared with assistance, then checked against datasheets and the same validators the ingest pipeline uses. If a page cannot clear that bar, it stays unpublished or is marked unverified. That process is the quality bar; volume of URLs is not.
