Privacy

The short version

There are no accounts, no sign-up, no forms and no newsletter. Nothing you type into the calculator is sent anywhere or stored: every calculation runs in your browser from figures already on the page.

The only optional data collection is anonymous traffic statistics, and it stays switched off until you agree to it.

What is stored in your browser

Three items, all in local storage rather than cookies:

• app_locale — the language you chose, so the site does not ask again.
• analytics_consent — your answer to the consent bar, so it does not ask again.
• admin_token — a login session. This is only ever set for the site operator; a visitor never receives one.

Traffic statistics

The site uses Google Analytics 4 in consent mode. Until you press “Agree”, analytics storage is set to denied: no analytics cookies are written and no identifier is kept between visits. If you agree, the following events are recorded, with no personal data attached: page views, which calculator mode was used, that a calculation was run, that a gear page or scenario was opened, a language switch, a chain specification being copied, an outbound click to a shop, and your consent decision itself.

IP anonymisation is enabled. We do not receive your address, we do not build profiles, and we do not use the data for advertising.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser; the consent bar will then appear again.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours records requests: address requested, time, status code, browser identification and IP address. These logs exist to keep the site running and to spot abuse; they are not linked to analytics and are not used to identify individuals.

Links to shops

Where a shop link is shown, it is marked as such and opens in a new tab. Following it takes you to a third party whose own privacy rules then apply — we have no control over and no visibility into what they collect. If a link earns us a commission, the page says so plainly next to the link.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data concerning you, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In practice we hold almost nothing that identifies you: writing to the address on the imprint page is the fastest way to ask.
