Expert Audio Engineering Commentary

Tonal Profile

62 Ω and 105 dB/V — about 92.9 dB/mW. Demanding, but not the most demanding in the catalogue: the AKG K240 Studio (91.4) and the Sennheiser HD 600 (91.8) both ask for more power. What sets the K712 apart is current rather than voltage — at 62 Ω it draws roughly three times the current of a 250 Ω headphone for the same level. It plays from an interface but rarely with much left over, and the reputation for 'needing an amp' comes from that margin, not from the impedance.
