Headroom Notes

87 dB at 2.83 V / 1 m on a 6-ohm nominal converts to roughly 85.75 dB/W/m — the printed figure flatters it by about 1.25 dB against any 8-ohm rival quoted in the same 2.83 V scale. The 7-inch woofer in a compact standmount is doing the work here, and the wood-fibre cone is light for its size, which is where the sensitivity comes from.

Amplification Warning

DALI publishes a nominal impedance and nothing else: there is no minimum-impedance row anywhere on the Oberon sheets. That absence is the important part — a 6-ohm nominal with an undisclosed minimum could sit anywhere from 4.5 to 3 ohms, and the speaker's usual reputation as an easy load rests on measurements DALI has not published. Treat 6 Ω as the ceiling of what you know, not the floor.

DALI prints a maximum SPL for a passive speaker without naming the drive voltage, the signal, the distortion limit or the duration at which 108 dB was reached. A passive loudspeaker has no maximum level of its own — it reproduces whatever the amplifier sends until thermal or excursion limits stop it, so the figure describes DALI's test conditions rather than the product. We keep it out of the calculable maximum-SPL field, which exists for active monitors where the amplifier is part of the box.
