Headroom notes

100 W + 100 W into 8 ohms, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, 0.07 % THD, both channels driven. The other numbers in the same table are labelled for what they are: maximum effective output 145 W at 1 kHz / 10 % THD (JEITA), and IHF dynamic power 140 / 170 / 220 / 290 W into 8 / 6 / 4 / 2 ohms. The dynamic figure roughly doubling from 8 to 2 ohms is the useful signal here — the supply holds up under short current demands.

Thermal behavior

Impedance is a two-position setting in Advanced Setup: '4 ohm MIN' for speakers of 4 ohms or more but less than 8, '8 ohm MIN' for 8 ohm speakers. Unlike the A-S301 there is no rear switch, so the setting is easy to leave wrong.
