Headroom Notes

Focusrite publishes no EIN for the Vocaster line - the one number that would say how clean those 70 dB actually are. Gain range and noise are different questions, and only the first is answered here.

Gain Staging Advice

70 dB is the most gain in this price class and it exists for one reason: dynamic broadcast microphones. An SM7B or RE20 at podcast distance sits comfortably inside that range with headroom left over.

Production Warning

48 kHz is the only sample rate. For a podcast box that is a deliberate choice, not a limitation, but it rules the Vocaster out as a general-purpose music interface.
