Headroom Notes
RME publishes no EIN at all - only signal-to-noise (113.7 dB RMS unweighted, 117 dBA). The two are not interchangeable: SNR is referenced to full scale, EIN to the input.
Gain Staging Advice
-11 to +65 dB of gain: the range starts below unity, which is unusual and useful with hot line sources. 65 dB covers an SM7B with a little to spare, and the PAD moves the maximum input level from +8 to +19 dBu.
Amplification Warning
Two separate headphone outputs with different amplifiers: the 6.3 mm jack gives +13 dBu (3.46 V) at 10 Ohm output impedance for high-impedance headphones, the 3.5 mm gives +7 dBu at 0.1 Ohm for in-ears. Choosing the wrong socket costs either level or neutrality.
