Gain staging
69 dB of mic gain with -127 dBu EIN: enough for an SM7B at a hand's distance without an inline booster. The 3rd generation stopped at 56 dB and could not do this.
Amplification Warning
The user guide prints 50 Ω under Headphone Outputs, separate from the 100 Ω line-output impedance on the same page. 50 Ω is high: with low-impedance multi-driver in-ears it will audibly bend the frequency response; with 250-300 Ω studio cans it only costs a little level.
