Short answer: yes, this one works — and it is the only booster in the catalogue that does.

The Triton FetHead Phantom is built on the same idea as every other inline booster: a JFET stage powered by the interface's +48 V. The difference is that it does not swallow the supply. It feeds itself and forwards phantom power to the microphone in front of it. That single property is what separates a working chain from silence, and it is the property nobody checks before buying.

The numbers. At 85 dB SPL the TLM 103 puts about −39.3 dBu on the cable. Against the Scarlett 2i2 4th gen's +16 dBu clip point and a −18 dBFS target, the chain needs 37 dB of gain in total. The FetHead Phantom supplies 18 dB, so the Scarlett's own preamp only has to find 19 dB out of the 69 it has. Everything sits comfortably.

What it costs. The plain FetHead gives 27 dB. The Phantom version gives 18. That 9 dB is the price of the pass-through circuitry, and it is a real loss, not a marketing rounding. It also means the Phantom version is the weaker booster in exactly the situation boosters exist for — a low-output dynamic on a short preamp.

The gem. These two devices look like a product line and are actually two different products for two mutually exclusive users. The 27 dB FetHead is for microphones that need no phantom power, and gives you the most gain. The 18 dB FetHead Phantom is for microphones that need phantom power — which, almost by definition, are condensers that are already around 20 dB louder than any dynamic and do not need a booster at all. Once you notice that, the Phantom version stops looking like an upgrade and starts looking like what it is: an insurance policy for a chain you should probably simplify.

Honest verdict for this pairing. It works, the levels are right, and the Scarlett runs in its quietest range. But a TLM 103 straight into this interface needs 37 dB out of 69 with no booster at all, and one fewer active device in the path is one fewer noise source. Buy the FetHead Phantom if you switch between a condenser and a low-output dynamic on the same cable and refuse to re-patch; do not buy it as a general improvement.
