Short answer: no. You need 60 dB, the card has 69, and nine decibels of reserve is a comfortable place to sit.

The RE20's −57 dBV/Pa sensitivity puts about −63.8 dBu on the cable at a normal speaking level of 85 dB SPL. The Solo 4th Gen clips at +14 dBu, so a −18 dBFS target needs 60 dB of gain. With 69 available the knob lands around three quarters — clear of the noisiest end of the preamp's range, and with room for a quieter voice or a wider distance.

If you own the 3rd Gen instead, the same microphone would ask 55 dB against its 56 dB maximum: technically inside, practically at the stop. That single generation of preamp is the whole difference between "fine" and "buy an accessory".

The trick specific to this microphone: the RE20's Variable-D design removes the proximity effect, so moving in close does not produce the boomy chest tone that pushes SM7B and cardioid users back to a hand's distance. And distance is gain. Halving the distance to the source raises the level by about 6 dB in the direct field — free, noiseless gain that no booster can match, because a booster amplifies your room along with your voice while moving closer improves the ratio between them.

That is why broadcast desks put this microphone a few centimetres from the mouth and why the RE20 sounds cleaner than its numbers suggest. If you are ever short of gain with an RE20, the first adjustment is your distance, not your shopping list.
